Meet “Four” – a kitten that had been stranded in Fort Meyers on Thursday when Hurricane Ian ravaged the city with high winds and flooding. Everyone helped out after spotting the terrified cat stranded on a bench and then having to cling to a tree trying his best to survive.
According to Sarah Beth at WINK News social media page, the producer had been with Meteorologist Dylan Federico when they spotted the kitten, and the treacherous rescue mission the crew performed to save its life began.
I’m a new WINK News producer and was able to get him inside after we had a brief, small fire was quickly put out by our management staff on the first floor that was completely. We just wanted to update the public because service has been very spotty, but just know the kitty is ok! His name is Four.. because the kitty survived a Cat 4. All of us at Wink News were devastated about this kitten especially Meteorologist Dylan Federico who witnessed this horrible incident firsthand. He dealt with my screaming and sobbing trying to calm me down while brainstorming at the same time to find ways to reach the cat and get the doors open enough to reach the kitten.

And we are all so proud of these reporters and news crews helping people stay safe as well as going above and beyond helping those innocent little ones, like this kitten – even risking their own safety and welfare.
This cat is the same cat stranded on the bench and I’m asking my WINK News family to share this amazing story of survival as this kitten clung to a tree and fought to survive and we were able to save. He is now our newest member of our Wink News family and he is so loved. I hope my Wink as well as my own family and friends share this post far and wide. Nicole Gabe TV Matt Devitt WINK Weather

Four has been settling into his new home.
Because he probably took in a lot of water we’ve been monitoring his respiratory system and he was struggling with wet stool at first but he’s now doing great. No bath just yet for this one because I don’t want him to go through any more trauma so baby wipes have been helpful! He can’t quite eat with the big cats yet so we got him so great wet kitten food that he is loving. We are hoping our vet opens soon so we can have him all checked out and make sure he’s healthy and get him all his boosters…

Many thanks to all the heroes who can’t rest until they have given it their all to make life better for those who cannot speak.
