Police come to rescue of ‘doggone’ pup weaving in traffic at rush hour

Admin

The West Palm Beach Police Department came to the rescue of a wayward pup who became a traffic stopper as she weaved in and out of traffic on Friday afternoon.

According to the department’s social media page, many rush hour motorists and Lt. A.J. Bullard, who had been on patrol at the time, barely missed the black, tan and white terrier that had been darting in and out of traffic. Lt. Bullard immediately pulled over and stopped traffic while drivers got out of their vehicles to chase after the frightened pup.

… but two legs were no match for four. Additional officers (more legs) soon arrived, and traffic on Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard and even Interstate 95 had to be stopped to keep the dog from getting hit, or cars crashing in attempts to avoid the dog.

For more than 20 minutes, officers chased the pup until she finally ran out of wind and settled for hiding and resting underneath a car parked in the nearby outlet store parking lot. Officers were then able to capture her and transported the adorable little one to the Banfield Pet Hospital.

Sadly, the dog is not chipped, but she was wearing a blue collar with a bone on it. It is believed she is about six-years-old and has recently had a litter of puppies. The search for her owner continues so she can be returned to her puppies.

If anyone recognizes this dog, please contact Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control at 561.233.1200.

Many thanks to the officers at the West Palm Beach Police Department. You are heroes – especially Lt. Bullard. 😉
