In Riverside, California, a mother dog stood guard over her puppy making sure her baby was safe. The area had mainly been deserted – her safe area was nothing more than a brick wall behind a line of thick bushes. Across the street the trains sped by, and no one was ever likely to notice the lonely dog and her sick puppy.
Fortunately, a Good Samaritan spotted her and notified rescuer Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29 started in memory of her son.
Every day I feel him lead me to animals in need through street rescue.

Suzette arrived and set a humane trap, and even though the mother seemed to be asking for help, she started barking because she was so frightened for her ailing puppy.
I set the trap with hotdogs. I drove away to hide but I could still see. She came out for the food. It was like she was telling her baby stay back, let me go get the food for us.
We were so happy when she finally went into the trap.

The Good Samaritan and Hall then crawled into the bushes to capture the scared puppy, and as soon as the two were placed together in the humane trap, the puppy’s tail wiggled, and she dashed straight to her mother’s belly and began nursing – helping her to feel safe.
My favorite part of rescue is when they know they are safe, and they fall asleep. They cuddled together all the way to the vet. Never to have to stand guard again, sweet mama.

The puppy, now named Molly, has parvo virus. The mother dog, Molly, is also being tested. The veterinarian bill is expected to be very steep, and donations are needed.
