In Elkhorn, Nebraska, a Rottweiler puppy named Zeus had been in his kennel at home when an EF-3 tornado struck. Miraculously, it had been a rescue organization checking out the devastation from the tornado, who found the puppy four blocks away from his home – his empty kennel sitting a few blocks away, as the pup made the best of his situation taking comfort in a nearby mattress.
According to Omaha’s KmtvNews, Zeus had been in his kennel on the upstairs floor of the house when the tornado hit on April 26. The house was destroyed and both the dog and the kennel were missing. It’s believed that Zeus was swept up into the tornado while still inside his crate.
Zeus was found on Friday evening by the Nebraska Humane Society where the officer carried the 126 pound pup to safety. Bullies N Beyond Rescue stepped in and had him transported to Southpaw Veterinary Clinic. Can you believe he only suffered from minor injuries? One-year-old Zeus survived; the door of his kennel had been broken open and Zeus walked two blocks away and found the mattress.
he lost some of the nails on his paw, he’s a little stiff on his hind leg and he had some scratches on his nose, but from what he went through, he’s pretty darn lucky.

Zeus’ family are working on rebuilding their home and were relieved to have found their puppy.
He’s most definitely a “good dog.”
