In Palm Beach County, Florida, the Palm Beach County’s Sheriff’s Office arrested a man and charged him with animal cruelty after witnesses spotted a French bulldog being dragged by its collar while attached to a truck.
According to the WpbfNews, the witness who emailed authorities about the disturbing incident, stated that multiple other drivers had been honking their horns and flashing their lights to capture the driver’s attention. When the person finally stopped, he picked the dog off the ground and threw the ailing pup into the truck bed before driving off. Witnesses stated the driver didn’t seem concerned about the dog’s welfare.
The suspect, Lisandro Arellano, interviewed by the Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control, stated the dog had fallen out of the truck, and that he was treating the dog’s injuries. The dog, named Blanca, did not belong to Arellano. The dog had not been taken to a veterinarian for treatment and suffered painful injuries. Arellano said he was treating the dog himself.
Arellano faces charges of aggravated animal control and animal cruelty.
Blanca was turned over to authorities where she was transferred to a veterinarian for treatment of serious, painful wounds and the immediate need for care to avoid life-threatening infections. She will remain under the care of Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control. He has been released on a $3,000 bond.
