A woman and her dog from Honeydew, California reported missing, were rescued on Tuesday night by the Humboldt County Search and Rescue team.
According to a press release by the County of Humboldt, Kari Nelson had been missing since early Monday afternoon when she went for a walk with her dog. Nelson was found in a steep and rocky drainage ditch. Rescue crews, utilizing a rope system, repelled down the drainage ditch and brought Nelson and her dog to safety. Nelson told rescue crews that she had become disoriented during her walk of the property and was unable to find her way back. Upon realizing that she had become lost, Nelson stayed put, spending the night and following day outdoors.
The HCSO thanked the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office and the Rescue Posse, United States Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay, Honeydew Volunteer Fire Department and Cal Fire for their help locating and rescuing the woman and her dog.
Many thanks to our heroes.
