He was left behind. In an area near Riverside in California, where a family once called home, there remained little more than graffiti and boarded up windows and doors. Still, the family’s loyal pup was just sure they would return for him, and he had no intentions of leaving. And despite the terrible storms, the lack of shelter, no food and the abject loneliness and fear, he still waited by the door.
When Faith Easdale and rescuers arrived after a Good Samaritan called asking for help, the lonely pup came running towards them, hoping it was his family returning. No sooner than he realized they were strangers, he barked and ran away – so very frightened. Someone had left him French fries, but his little heart was too broken to even turn around.
I knelt down while he grumbled at me telling me I don’t know you and I’m scared my family left me. I spoke softly and prayed dear God I don’t have a trap with me – let him trust me enough to put a leash around him.

Fortunately, the scared little guy was ready to surrender, hoping help for him had finally arrived. Faith was soon able to place him in a crate with a soft pile of blankets.

And now one more little lonely dog finds out his life does matter. He quickly settled into the crate, ate some food, drank some water and fell asleep. After his veterinarian checkup and grooming, he will be heading to his foster home. And that’s how rescuing works.
