Shelter’s comical post about ‘hot mess’ helps homeless pooch find a home

Admin

Burke County, NC – A homeless dog sheltered at a North Carolina animal services facility got a lot of attention following a humorous social media post. The extra large dog, named Billy Bob, needed a helping hand given his size (110 pounds!!) and questionable doggy antics.

The Burke County Animal Services Facebook page posted two photos of Billy Bob, explaining his “trying” behavior. The shelter writes:

Billy Bob – 110#, tongue hangs out way too much, terrible car rider, entirely too food motivated and will accidentally mistake your arm for a cheeseburger, smells a little, and loves every person he has ever met.
Someone adopt this hot mess! We promise you won’t regret it!

The cheeky post struck a chord with Facebook followers who shared the post over 500 times. According to the shelter director, the publicity led to a trial adoption by a courageous family who wanted to see if they were up for Billy Bob’s many quirks. As of the writing of this article, he is not listed on the “adoptable” pets on the shelter website. Best of luck to his adoptive family – he is a lot of dog, with a lot of love to give!
