One week ago when a Good Samaritan had reached out for help after finding a dog struggling to breathe in the Rio Grande area of Texas. Rescuers from Dallas Dog-Rescue.Rehab.Reform rushed forward. The emaciated pup, dubbed Arnia, had arrived at the emergency veterinary hospital. It is not known how long people just ignored her and walked by her; the condition she was found in had been just heartbreaking.
Arnia had been covered in fleas and ticks; she tested positive for Ehrlichiosis. In addition, she was anemic and required an albumin transfusion. Her glucose was on the low end of normal; she struggled to maintain her body temperature, but that extra fight in her helped her condition to stabilize.
And as if that wasn’t enough for the weak pup to overcome, two days later she tested positive for canine distemper. Her fever rose to over 103.9 degrees.
Fortunately, Arnia refused to give up, and on Friday, supporters of the sad looking Arnia were given the update they had all hoped to hear.
Arnia is Thankful to every single supporter out there !!
She is home resting , she is eating and drinking some. However we are increasing the amount of water that goes into her food so she is getting plenty now.
