In Philadelphia, an animal rescue group saved an injured dog left lying on the railroad for two days. According to the Philly Rescue Angels, the dog, now dubbed Lucky, was found at the Lawndale Station in Montgomery County and is unable to use his back legs.
Lucky was there for 2 days, we were NOT aware of that until we got to him and the was TOLD he was there for 2 days. We got to lucky at 4:19pm, we are in daylight savings, the sunsets around 4:30pm, that’s why there are photos of him in daylight and night time. Upon seeing him, we suspected a spinal injury, which needs to be handled properly or it can be FATAL. We called for help so he could be safely transported to PENN, he was on his way to PENN by 5:28pm. We did this in under an hour, while we fed and comforted him & saved his life.

It is not known if Lucky had been struck by the train or dumped on the tracks because of his injury. The dog had been lying on the tracks and ducked his head way down as the train ran overhead. His collar and leash were found nearby.
Lucky is currently in stable condition and will undergo surgery today. At his orthopedic examination, surgeons stated he has a very serious spinal fracture. The surgery will just be to eliminate pain as his injury is too severe to be repaired.
He is also at risk for Myelomalacia, which is fatal and is a result of a severe spinal chord injury. It’s when there is an impaired blood supply to the spinal chord, this develops quickly and aggressively. As of right now, Lucky is receiving pain meds, and they are keeping him comfortable until they take him to surgery Friday morning.

If Lucky survives, he will be needing specialized care. Surgery is expected to be lengthy and very costly. To help Lucky, please donate here:
