Grandfather drives cross country to deliver loveable stray pup to family for Christmas

If you want your heart to just pump with love, then this adorable story of a grandfather who drove from Texas to Fargo, North Dakota to deliver a special Christmas gift to some very deserving children is quite the heartwarming tale.

In early December, Nicole Parrett had been in Texas with her family visiting relatives, when a stray dog arrived at the home. Of course, the children were not allowed to touch the pup – just in case he was the type who would bite, but that didn’t discourage the pooch or the children. The dog just hung around the home, and it wasn’t long before the children started paying attention to him.

According to Kcra.com, the dog was so loveable, and he just won the family over, but Nicole and her husband Nathan stated emphatically they would not take the dog home. The family, however cleaned the fleas and cockleburs off the dog, fed him and asked the children to come up with a name for the pup.

And then it was time for the family to return home to Fargo, and surely we all could feel the sadness having to leave this little guy; the children were just devastated because they had bonded so closely with him and of course – vice versa.

Alright so here comes the best part of the story, and now you can put your tissues down, because the children’s grandfather, Mike Parrot knew how special the little dog was to the children, and decided to drive the pooch 1,250 miles to North Dakota. Mike wanted to make his grandkids happy, and what could be a better present for Christmas than the dog the children had already fallen in love with?

And so the stray dog who just happened upon the best house in the area and whose name is now Country fits perfectly with his new family. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if every stray dog could be so lucky and so loved?
