At the Humane Society of Broward County, when an eight-year-old Shih Tzu mix was discovered at a “friend’s residence” and then brought to the shelter, he was in deplorable condition. How the tiny dog, named Elton could have been in someone’s home and neglected to this extent where people lived every day, is beyond comprehension and truly heartbreaking.
For years, Elton lived a terrible and painful life; no dog gets in this condition after only a short time.
When brought to the shelter, Elton was suffering from overgrown and severely matted fur to the point of skin infections. His rescuers could not see his face or his eyes. When he was finally cleaned up and the matted hair removed, sadly it was discovered that his eyes had been damaged beyond repair; Elton’s dry eyes were terribly painful, and the decision was made to remove them.
Elton remains under the care of the Humane Society of Broward County, where he is receiving medical treatment and tender loving car Now all he needs is a special adopter to give him a chance.
