In Parma, Michigan, the staff at Jackson County Animal Shelter continue to look for information about two dogs and a cat that were all found together earlier this week. No one knows the journey these bonded pets had traveled.
A male dog, a female dog and a male cat were found roaming in a field, and the three had been outdoors on their own for quite awhile and had remained together. Remind you of a movie about bonded animal friends trying to find their way home?
The shelter named the trio – Chance, Sassy and Shadow – two of the pets named after the dog and cats in the movie Homeward Bound, a 1993 movie about three pets who trudged on an epic journey to reach home after having been accidentally lost.
Chance has since been adopted by the man who first discovered the three pets. The one-year-old male cat, Shadow and the six-year-old female dog named Sassy are inseparable. Rescuers couldn’t help but notice, even as they were picking up Sassy and Shadow, – just how bonded the two were.
Sassy and Shadow were snuggled together. The dog let the cat eat out of a bowl, sitting right next to her. usually when cats get dumped out somewhere, they take off and hide. So the fact that he stayed right there with the dogs and went into the truck and laid on the dog … that’s really incredible.

When the two arrived at the shelter, they were moved into a separate room and spent their time cuddling and loving on each other. The only time the two became stressed was when they had to be temporarily separated to be neutered and spayed. Each waited by the door for their beloved companion to return.
The Jackson County Animal Shelter wants the two to find a home together – we mean – who could even have the heart to separate them? The two should be the only pets in the home so they can be spoiled and the “center of attention.”
Someone loved these pets at one time, and they are both utterly irresistible. Their adoption fees have been paid – it’s just a matter of time now finding the perfect family for these perfect pets.
