At the Downey Animal Care Center, a beautiful Belgian Malinois named Stine has been labeled “rescue only” because he “heavily preferred a female handler” over a male. Sadly, when a dog is labeled “rescue only”, he can no longer be adopted by anyone in the public, but can only leave the shelter with an approved rescue organization.
Stine socialized well with the female handler, was wary and avoidant of other handlers. Stine will be made rescue only due to handler selectivity. Continued socialization and a slow approach with new people recommended. He grew more comfortable with the female handler and sought for continuous affection. Stine interacted amongst calm dogs in the yard, engaging in gentle push pull play.
Facebook report on dog’s behavior
Tragically, as much as his behavior notes indicate his willingness to learn and be friendly, the shelter instead has announced his 72 hour notice for humane euthanasia.
Please share this boy’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friend, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
