Fire department successfully rescued retired police dog from 60 foot hole

In Bonita, California, firefighters from the area were successfully able to rescue a German shepherd that fell down a 60-foot hole in Chula Vista on Wednesday.

According to Fox News, the retired K9 officer, Indy, had been trapped in the hole for over four hours as rescuers tried to save him. Crews tried a number of rescue techniques, including sending different hooks down below to try and attach to the dog.

Unfortunately, none to the rescue cords were long enough to make it down to where the dog was stuck.

Finally, one of the firemen used a lasso to grab Indy around the luck, and it just happened that fate stepped in – the dog lifted his head up, and the firefighter was able to get the loop around his neck. And although lifting the dog out of the hole was not a preferable way of saving him, the rescuers had no other choice.

Fortunately Indy was not injured by the rescue procedure. He suffered some cuts and may have injured his hips, but his breathing was fine, and he was safe. The owner was very grateful and was rushing Indy to his veterinarian for a check up.
