A Brazilian woman was shocked when she discovered a seven-month-old puppy sewn into the lining of a used couch delivered to her home she had just purchased from a local thrift store.
According to Coisas de Hupeva e Regiao, the woman from Joinville, North Santa Catarina discovered the puppy to be alive and very thirsty. The woman’s brother-in-law had to rip the lining from the bottom of the couch to reach the puppy.
The case was forwarded to the Action Front for Animal Rights (FRADA) who believe the puppy had been intentionally sewn into the lining as a despicable act of animal cruelty. The animal welfare organization stated there would have been no way for the puppy to have burrowed into the lining.
As the post on Instagram went viral, Soraya Gomes Garcia adopted the puppy and named her Mel, after her previous dog who had passed away.
Mel is one lucky little pooch! Best of luck and long lives to both Soraya and Mel.
