On Sunday, Dallas Dog – Rescue.Rehab.Reform was contacted about a badly injured puppy in South Texas that had just been attacked by a stray dog in the dumping grounds. The six-week-old puppy was discovered hiding under a house for protection; a volunteer from the non-profit animal rescue organization had arrived to help him get out from beneath the home.
Because it was a Sunday, all local veterinarians were closed, and therefore had to be transported to the closest veterinary emergency hospital for immediate care for puppy’s eye – which as can be seen bulging from its socket. In addition, the puppy was bleeding from either his nose or another part of his face.
On Monday, Willy underwent surgery. His one eye had to be removed, and although the other eye appears to be intact, there still remains considerable swelling. The eye socket, which is fractured, should heal with time. In addition, two fractured baby teeth were removed, the wounds on his face and head were closed up, and he is reported to be resting comfortably.
And by Tuesday afternoon, Willy and his rescuers received the best news ever.
Willy the Warrior we just received the most amazing news.
He is going HOME today, he will stay with our volunteer till Monday’s transport unless we can get him north sooner vs. later.
Willy is in good spirits and now will begin to not only physical heal but emotionally heal!!!
Willy’s veterinarian care and his surgery have been very expensive, but this young puppy is on the right path to a new and wonderful life.
