At the South East Animal Control Authority (SEAACA), an 18-year-old poodle mix weighing only 5.2 pounds arrived on Thursday. To see her at the shelter has been nothing less than heartbreaking.
Volunteers and animal rescuers immediately started to share Ivy’s story on social media, and it doesn’t matter how much longer she might live; it is the quality of time and the care she deserves for the time she has left.
A shelter volunteer expressed her outrage at Ivy’s former owners who surrendered her to the shelter and apparently just walked away with little remorse at a time when Ivy needed them most.
To see her at SEACCA makes you nothing short of MONSTERS who never ever deserve the love of a pet again
At intake, Ivy was able to be handled and petted. She stumbles a lot and appears to have only two teeth. Her general appearance showed her to be extremely matted, emaciated, and she will need further veterinarian care. She has since been shaved.
Because of her physical condition, Ivy must receive a commitment no later than March 8, and no extensions will be given.
