On Saturday, the Long Beach lifeguards became heroes to a small white dog that had been lost and running loose in the Junipero Beach parking lot.
According to the Long Beach Fire Department, when lifeguards arrived at the scene, the frightened dog had run out to the ocean and started swimming out to sea.
Lifeguard 7 put on his Wetsuit, grabbed his rescue board and bouy, and headed out to rescue the small while lap dog. The little dog made it out to the swim line, and with rescue boat 2’s help, Lg7 could get the dog on the rescue board and bring it safely to shore.

The owner of the dog was not immediately found, however the posts on social media by the fire department alerted the pup’s family who later reunited with their dog at Animal Care Services.

Our new friend Tofu is doing great. We had a couple of fun photos of his time with us! We are glad that he’s back with his family! Although we miss him around Long Beach Lifeguard Association HQ.
