‘Catie’ will never get the chance to dance if her life is snuffed out at high kill shelter

Admin

Who can even imagine how frightened a five-year-old tiny Yorkshire terrier must be feeling at the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter in California? There she is trying to cope with all that barking, all that clanging of food and water bowls and all those strangers?

Catie weighs a mere seven pounds, and although she has only been at the shelter for six days, an order to euthanize her on Saturday has been checked.

Catie’s front right leg had been injured sometime in the past and then “healed.” It was likely left untreated and now causes her pain. The shelter veterinarian suspects she will need her leg amputated, but the information from the shelter is limited, and there are no further notations whether a consultation and evaluation from an orthopedic surgeon would help Catie’s prognosis.

Sadly, the shelters are packed, and trying to administer individual attention to the dogs with special needs, who could leave the shelter and live wonderful lives, seem only to be limited to the youngest, cutest and healthiest.

what an awful thing it would be and a needless waste of a precious life if would be if Catie is Not allowed to fulfill the potential she has as a loved pet and succumbs to eternal darkness in the horrid killing room; all glimmer of the hope i see in her beautiful eyes gone forever.
