Heartbreaking: Stray blind dog and her seeing eye buddy on Dallas shelter death row

Admin

Heartbreak is happening again! This time, a two-year-old female stray pooch was found roaming the area near Dowdy Ferry Road; she has no eyes. “Lady” was found accompanied by Dude who appeared to have been her “eyes” and safety pup protector.

According to Dallas Animal Services, Lady has been blind since birth. She is currently at the shelter and is being treated for diarrhea, tick infestation and is regularly being examined for signs of improvement. She is in need of socialization, and because of her behavior has made examining and behavior observations difficult. Sadly the dogs have been separated at the shelter and are lost without each other.

The shelter also notes her physical evaluation shows evidence of “fly strike and suspect p is microphthalmic, likely due teratogenic viral or congenital malformation.”
