A tiny, lifeless dog, caked in urine was discovered at a bus stop near St. Louis on Wednesday. A man, on his way to work, had been running late spotted the dog, and because he knew he had to help this defenseless animal, missed his bus.
The dog had no energy; she could not stand or walk; she was so thin and had little muscle tone. The man was so shocked, but refused to leave her there. He untied her and carried the dog all the way home. He ran inside his home and called Stray Rescue of St. Louis because he did not know what to do. All he knew was he had to get this puppy help. The staff went to pick up the puppy; later that day she was named She-Ra.
She-Ra was immediately taken to the veterinarian where her tiny body was warmed and given her a few bites of food that she eagerly gobbled up.

Updates on this little angel’s story to come.
Today is #GiveSTLDay, and every gift matters. Just like her precious life matters. Strayrescue.org/Givestlday.
It is remarkable how the St. Louis Community stands up in unity every year on GiveSTL Day to support local non-profit organizations. That love, devotion and support is the fuel that keeps our engine running, always peering into dangerous, abandoned, and blighted landscapes ever careful to spot a suffering animal in need. Our animal friends lost on the streets still experience daily suffering; that is their normalcy.
