On Sunday evening, the Jackson, Missouri animal rescue group, Mac’s Mission posted heartbreaking photos of an abandoned dog found in a field covered in multiple wounds all over her body. It had been rescue volunteers who carried her to their vehicle and embarked on a two-and-a-half-hour drive to the emergency veterinarian hospital in order to try and save this poor dog’s life.

It was later last night that the dog, now dubbed Marina, arrived at the emergency veterinary hospital. The one-year-old puppy was in critical condition, but there was no doubt she wanted to live. She has a strong heart and strong lungs, suffers from demodex mange and secondary issues of infections from her wounds. Her glucose numbers were incredibly low (12 – should be 76-150).
Marina was given glucose intravenously, and within five minutes began to perk up; she opened her eyes and lifted her head.

Marina is being kept comfortable, and the ICU team is trying everything they can.
We are all hopeful, Dr. Chaney said she would keep her comfortable because we know how much Marina is hurting. We will let Marina guide us in what she needs and so far her lifting her head to nibble at her iv line is very very hopeful. Marina is pitbull strong!!
