There were 21 puppies – all eight-weeks-old that had been listed for euthanasia on Tuesday afternoon if no rescue organization would commit by 4:00 p.m. And that was only after the email from the shelters arrived to rescue organizations at 3:45 p.m. Tragically, in Southern California, even puppies are being killed at a record number because of overcrowding.
And the simple truth; spay or neuter your pets, and rescuers won’t be frantically rushing to save these innocent lives just because certain pet owners are so irresponsible.
Early this morning, rescuer Cathi Perez set out on the two hour journey to Bakersfield; she rescued 28 puppies from two different shelters including another litter from a Taft shelter. ( 30+ miles southwest of Bakersfield)
