A small senior pup had to have been relieved after firemen rescued him from a storm drain in Los Angeles. According to KtlaNews5,saving the dog took hours and additional crew.
On Friday afternoon, neighbors in Avocado Heights, spotted a small black and tan stray dog roaming around the area and hiding under a vehicle. When one Good Samaritan approached the dog to help him, the frightened pup snapped, and then ran away.
Later in the afternoon, the dog got stuck in a nearby storm drain. The Los Angeles County Fire Department arrived, and one of the officers lowered himself into the drain, but was not able to locate the dog. It was then a search and rescue team arrived.
The dog was very frightened and being stuck in the drain might have been the scariest situation the little guy had ever encountered. The officers tried to entice him with “sweet talk,” but that didn’t work. Every time they tried to grab him, the dog would just run back further into the tunnel. They also tried hot dogs, bologna, bacon and all the treats dogs usually like attached to a long harness, but that didn’t work either.
And after numerous failed attempts, a firefighter descended into the drain and was able to capture and bring the little guy to the surface. The 12-pound dog was wearing a collar but had no identification. He appears to be a senior and is currently in the care of the LA County Animal Control. His ID# – A5563189. If this is your dog, he’s waiting to go home.
