Rescuers rally to save special needs husky with only two legs at high kill shelter

Admin

Hope and Keniy are senior, bonded Siberian huskies surrendered by their owner to the Los Angeles North Central Animal Shelter on May 23rd. According to the owner, he is moving and no longer able to care or afford the costs for the dogs; Hope has special needs.

Hope has no back legs and is blind in one eye. She also arrived with male husky Keniy.

Shelter notes

Keniy A2141497 is not in danger at this time; plea is about Hope because her welfare is urgent. She is going to be difficult to get out safely. She is not available to the general public.

It appears Hope’s owner did take good care of her until he couldn’t. He said he got “playful and gentle” Hope from a friend a couple of years ago and has no idea how her condition happened. Hope’s stumps are clean and have no scabs, and she is not urine stained. Her owner surrender form noted she did sleep outside

The shelter says Hope is lovely but overwhelmed and understandably terrified. They have made her Star Eligible for the first two weeks of diagnostics and treatments for partnered rescues upon completion of an approved application.
