Today could be the last day that a one-year-old German shepherd gets to see the light of day. He is listed as “code red,” and if not tagged today and out of the Fort Worth Animal Care and Control by the end of the day, his life will have ended.
Meet Hadis, who is just a year old and very dog friendly. He weighs 77 pounds and is already neutered, so he’s ready to leave with his stuffie. On May 13, he was returned to the shelter, and a once very happy and exuberant pup is almost unrecognizable. The stress and crowded conditions of the shelter have taken a terrible toll on Hadis.
A shelter volunteer shares this young dog’s heartbreaking story:
Just for some perspective- this is his 3RD TIME at the shelter. Not once was it his fault. Hadis came in last fall, was adopted and brought back for moving or unwanted (can’t remember exactly). Then he got adopted again and was found roaming around as a stray with quite some weight loss again this year. I met him in January and wish I kept his videos from then to show just now different he was. Super happy super excited and playful. videos below are recent. When I opened the kennel I did not put 2 and 2 together. When he sat down for treats and showed me his “smile” that’s when I realized it was him.

Hadis can be fostered through the shelter and they will supply foster parents with all the supplies needed. He just needs somewhere quiet to rest, decompress and once again feel like a young, happy puppy just starting out in life.
Adoptions must be done in person from 12-6pm when the shelter is open to the public.
