Missing family dog lured back home by smell of dirty laundry

Admin

In North Attleboro, Massachusetts, the family’s dirty laundry helped their missing puppy find her way home earlier this week.

According to CbsNews, Chelsea had been playing in the yard when she managed to wiggle out under the fence and into the woods. Her family had been very concerned and posted on social media asking to be notified if anyone had seen her. Area residents had reported spotting the pup near I295 and I95.

Accompanied by a state trooper, the owner spotted her puppy nearby at a river, but Chelsea took off again.

And that was when volunteers from the non profit Missing Dogs Massachusetts suggested the family put out some of their dirty laundry in a trap near their home to lure the puppy back home. It worked!

And now if you have ever wondered how strong a dog’s sense of smell really is, scientists have long speculated that a canine’s sense of smell is 10,000 to 100,000 times more acute than that of a human. They have 40 times more smell sensitive receptors than humans and have been reported. of course depending on wind and the type of scent, have been known to smell objects and people nearly 12 miles away.

Chelsea is home; perhaps a tad bit thinner, but all in all, she’s fine.

Aren’t dogs just amazing? We think so!
