Hearts break for dog ‘nobody wanted’ at Orange County adoption event attended by thousands

Admin

At the Orange County Animal Services in Orlando, Florida, some dogs have all the luck. Often, the Pet Rescue Report tells the story about a dog in need of a home, and for days people call and offer to foster and adopt. Sometimes at adoption events, folks wanting to adopt their new best friend line up and patiently wait for their chance to meet the dog. Excitement, playful children, lots of wagging tails and new four-legged friends are soon headed home.

But then there are the dogs “nobody wanted” – the forgotten ones, the neglected ones, the undesirable ones who might have cropped ears, big heads and compact body builds. And that’s where Baby Girl (A541977) waits and waits.

It was an adoption event of epic proportion. Thousands of people had attended the weekend event. Baby Girl was so excited as she watched everyone hoping that special someone would stop and want to meet her.

No one lined up to meet Baby Girl, no one asked about her and since February, this nine-year-old dog, technically one of the longest residents at the shelter, has waited for someone to love. When she sees people, her magical tail wags up a storm – ” oh are they going to take me home” she seems to be asking with those big pleading eyes?

This is what we know about Baby Girl. She is described as sweet and gentle with people. She has shared her kennel with other dogs. Of course, she’s not perfect, but she’s sure pretty close.

Her past is a mystery, but Baby Girl lives for today and tomorrow. Please share her story with friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.

Everyone else got adopted except for you because you weren’t the dog they wanted at an adoption event where thousands of people attended.

  • And this is what the shelter has to say about Baby Girl
  • “Do not let my powder sugar face fool you; even though I am 9 years old I still have plenty of play left in me. I wake up every morning with a generous tail wag and an even more generous smile. I am housebroken. I am not an escape artist. I love going for my morning walks. I am not a cuddle bug yet but I’m working on it. I am good on a leash and I’m working on stopping and sitting at every corner to make sure there is no traffic. I have learned some basic obedience commands. My favorite activity is laying out in the sun soaking up the rays with my foster parents outside. I also enjoy my Kong filled with whipped cream. I am good with MEN and WOMEN, but I am not good with other dogs, especially SMALLER DOGS. I have not been around CATS.”

From foster: Good with dogs her size. Does not like smaller dogs. She obeys commands and is well behaved. She knows sit, stay, down, wait, no, come, off and paw. Treat motivated Screams when happy or scared.
