An 11-year-old Labrador retriever mix spent nearly a decade at the Animal Refuge Center in North Fort Meyers, Florida. Just this week, the non profit rescue organization posted on their Facebook page that the “longest resident” had found her new foster home.
Bean spent almost ten years at ARC before Larry Denmark saw her photo on the website and started coming to the shelter to spend time with her. They became “fast friends” and then Denmark invited Bean into the family’s home.
The staff and volunteers spent lots of one on one time with Bean to get her ready for her new home, and although they all admit they will miss her, she is now “living her best life.”
Through the years, Bean has posed for holidays and has been described as “extremely loving, affectionate and intelligent.” Sadly, black dogs and especially senior pups are the most overlooked when potential adopters arrive at shelters and rescue organizations. Past posts have stated the rescue has been trying for years to find Bean the perfect home, and unequivocally had no intentions of giving up.
And so it has come to fruition, with Bean always promising to be a “good girl” has met her new and favorite human. Although she is shy when she first meets new people, once she’s sure that she is liked, she’s very interested in becoming one’s best friend.
Thank you Larry! Thank you to the staff and volunteers that spent so much time getting Bean ready for this opportunity. We will miss her couldn’t be more excited to see Bean living her best life.
