A sweet beagle named Rentas was truly heartbroken, and one could see the sadness in his little face when his family surrendered him to Burien C.A.R.E.S. shelter in Washington.
Sadly, Rentas lost his home of 12 years after the toddler in the house played too rough with the dog, and the family said they were afraid the baby was going to hurt the senior pooch. Shortly, after that heartbreaking experience for Rentas, according to a Facebook post on the Old Dogs Haven Facebook, the sweet 39-pound beagle was adopted by a woman, but she returned him to the shelter because he didn’t get along with her cats. Rentas might be old, but his prey instinct to chase kitties made it impossible for everyone to coexist there.
Hi. My name is Rentas. I am a 14 year old, 39 pound beagle. After 12 years living with the same family, I was brought to this shelter. I was adopted out by a nice lady who thought she could help me but she didn’t know I wanted to get her cats! So this nice lady had a friend watch me for a few days but she could not keep me either so I had to come back here. I am bummed and confused…

So who would be the perfect match for this sweetheart? How about a retired person with no other pets, and someone who can be around most of the day and cuddle and be loved? And as a plus, Rentas loves to go for walks; what a great way for everyone to get their exercise yes?
If you are a stay at home person, I’d fit right in. When the nice lady adopted me, she took me to work with her. Maybe you have one of those jobs too? I will bark for attention but will stop quickly. I don’t want to make anyone unhappy with me. I am a very nice boy.
This adorably sad-faced looking canine is described by volunteers and staff as very sweet. When he’s home and napping as most dogs love to do, and perhaps even more as they age, Rentas can be heard snoring and likely having sweet dreams.
Rentas is located at the Burien C.A.R.E.S. shelter, located in Burien, WA. Please call or email ahead to schedule an appointment. https://www.buriencares.org/contact
