Staff at St. Louis rescue fought back tears after owner spotted abandoning sweet dog in dumpster

Admin

The staff at Stray Rescue of St. Louis fought back tears on Monday after learning about a dog abandoned in a dumpster by her owner. Hearts were broken, trying to understand how anyone could have just turned their back on such a gentle and kind dog – now named Malea.

A passerby witnessed a woman throwing her in the dumpster, and it had to have been a minor miracle that the dog wasn’t injured. The dumpster was completely empty, and it would have been easy for the dog to have landed on the bottom and broken her leg or even her hip.

We tried to hold back tears but this really choked us up. This is frustrating and disgusting. The caller said he saw a woman put this dog in the dumpster, and that it was still alive.

Malea has been described as perfect!

It was so hot inside, we’re thankful she didn’t pass out. We’re heading back to a full shelter now with not a single open spot to put her. But she’s safe and loved now. Who can foster Malea? You’ll be her hero, and ours.

According to Natalie Thomson, Malea is sweet, kind, trusting and “not trash,” but she will be evaluated and tested with other dogs to see how everyone gets along.

And there’s more! After rescuing Malea, and on the way back to the shelter, another call came in referring to puppies dumped in a parking lot downtown. At the current time, there are extra pens and crates all over the shelter, filled with dogs and puppies. Fosters are also needed for these two puppies. They need someone to step up now and give them temporary homes, love and attention.

Meet Hocus and Pocus! They are also perfect! Whoever abandoned these puppies left a cardboard box full of dog supplies including food and dog shampoo. Why are people so cruel and heartless? What if these puppies had landed up in the wrong hands?
