So heartbreaking that no one wants to adopt young shepherd at shelter for 280 days

At the Westminster Adoption Group and Services (WAGS) in California, our hearts break for a two-year-old beautiful German shepherd who no one wants to adopt. She has been at the shelter “without a single adoption tour or interested person” according to the organization’s Facebook page.

Gweneth has been here 279 days and has NEVER EVER had a person come in to look at her. We have even tried to call in law enforcement from 2 different cities to have them come look at her because she has the drive to do great things, and we can’t seem to get anyone to commit to even just come in and meet her. She is dog reactive and needs an experienced owner (no dogs, cats, or kids for Gwen).

For sure Gweneth is looking for a job; check out her video:

Now if you have never heard the term neurodivergent, as it is being applied to Gweneth, it seems to describe her brain as having developed differently. Typical signs with humans include difficulty with social interaction, focusing, concentration and possibly stuck in repetitive behaviors and routines as well as having difficulty following instructions. Gweneth would definitely benefit with additional support. And even though the term is rarely associated with describing a dog, the staff says that Gweneth presents repetitive behavior patters and has a lack of interest in human contact. She really doesn’t seem to like to be petted or hugged.

Just two days ago, Gweneth once again became the focus of helping her to find a home.

Today officially starts our BIG PUSH to get Gweneth out of the shelter. She is a neurodivergent dog who displays obsessive behavior when it comes to her toys. She’s not a big fan of cuddling & physical contact and can be dog reactive….I know….its a tall order, but we know that Gweneth’s person is out there! She has never redirected her toy obsession onto people, in fact, she does enjoy endless hours of fetch!

And hopefully our hearts will have some more room to help out a few more long time members of the rescue who certainly could use our help:

Poor Vesta, Edmund, and Gweneth are all still here…sadly. Vesta has been here for 515 days, Edmund has been here 349 days, and Gweneth has been here 279 days.

Sadly….nothing has changed except the number of days these three pets have been waiting for their forever homes. Vesta, Edmund, and Gweneth are still the longest residents and not a single person came in to meet them to see if they’d be a good fit for their family.

PLEASE share their stories, and help get these longest residents into forever homes. They have been there WAY too long.
