On State Route 99 between Ventura and Fresno, California, a dog had been spotted lying flat against the highway median. A highway patrol officer initially told rescuers from Pinky Paws Search & ResQ he thought the dog was deceased, and from what he had been told, the dog had been in the same spot for days.
Rescuers, however were convinced the dog was indeed alive, and begged the highway patrol officer to stop traffic for just a few minutes to make sure. Back up was called, and the rescuers were given a few minutes to check while traffic was stopped.
I was shaky the whole time worrying the dog would get adrenaline and get up. I kept praying.
When traffic was stopped, the rescuers proceeded to the spot where the dog had been lying; he was very much alive, and they were miraculously able to get a slip knot around his neck. The dog kept biting and barking out of sheer fear; he urinated and defecated all over himself.
The rescuers were able to get the dog into their van; he was finally safe.
After I leashed the dog, hubby got bite gloves and blanket. We rushed the dog to our van. He/she is safe!
We are taking him/her to the vet when we pick up our neuter. We will let you know gender.
