At the Muhlenberg County Humane Society in Greenville, Kentucky, hearts broke last evening when a room full of paws and noses stuck out beneath the kennel doors. The staff picked up the toys and pieces of food nearby thinking the dogs had been reaching for those, but the paws and the noses didn’t move.
“Every Picture Tells A Story” and this one is about shelter animals:
These sweet doggies are longing for their forever family to come give them a home. They are warm and fed but still need a loving home.
The no-kill shelter accepts stray pets from the county and also helps with medical cases. Just two days ago, Willow was found lying in a ditch. It is suspected the one-and-a-half-year-old dog could have been languishing in pain for two weeks with a fractured leg that had already began to heal on its own. Willow is skin and bones underneath her thick coat that likely kept her warm enough to survive until someone found her as a stray needing immediate help.
we are sorry that nobody called you in sooner or whoever hit you didn’t stop. we can’t imagine the pain, suffering and hunger you’ve endured while laying there for days waiting.
Willow is receiving intravenous fluids and is still very weak. She is being fed small meals four times a day; dry dog food only. She has to get stronger before she can go to an orthopedic specialist for her broken leg injury.
Willow really needs a local foster with an approved volunteer. She needs to be in a quiet environment with someone who can monitor her over the next few days. And there is no shortage of sweetness and gratitude here; despite her pain and how some unknown human just left her in a ditch to suffer, Willow holds no grudges.
