Teen girls arrested for stealing beloved dachshund ‘Milkshake’ insisting owner pays ransom

In a disturbing story of a family’s missing dachshund named “Milkshake”, two 16-year-olds have been arrested for stealing the Bronx, New York pet. Sadly, the dog has not been found.

The minors are facing charges of third-degree grand larceny and second-degree harassment.

According to the New York Police Department, the dog’s owner, Luz Monica Montenez, still has no idea where her dog is, and is just besides herself with worry. Milkshake has been her best friend for ten years – since she was a three-week-old puppy and given to her as a birthday present. At the time, she had to bottle feed the puppy because she was so young.

It was on May 4, that the female pup was stolen from an apartment on Tiffany Street in the early evening. The suspects live in the same building as the dog. Monica claims the teens scooped her dog up into their arms while she had been busy hosting her young child’s birthday party and the children and the dog were all frolicking in the hallway.

Video shows Milkshake following the teens down the hall, down a short flight of steps and towards the exterior door of the apartment building.

Authorities and the family have checked the shelters, put up posters and continued to ask everyone to keep an eye out for the dog. It was shortly after that the teens contacted Monica and demanded she use CashApp to send money for ransom to get her dog back. Other teens then started to harass Monica with upsetting phone calls about her dog.

Milkshake is still missing, and it is not believed the dog ran away. It is thought the kids either gave the dog to someone or they sold the pooch.

this is my baby. this is my soulmate. This is my heart, my heartbeat. she’s been through everything with me.

As told to the NY Post

Monica hopes someone will see her desperate plea to help find her dog and return Milkshake to her. Please share this article and help find this dog.
