Two weeks ago, the Adams County SPCA in Pennsylvania had been overcrowded with dogs in need of homes. And now, for the first time in nearly 50 years, there are no more dogs at the shelter, and there are lots of deserving pooches spending times in their new homes with their new families.
According to the Facebook page of the Adams County SPCA, there wasn’t a face without an ear to ear smile.
Today is a great day for the Adams County SPCA! Two weeks ago our kennels were almost filled, now we don’t have any dogs in the building at all (we have 1 cat that came in as a stray a little bit ago)!! Our community stepped up once again! This is the first time in 47 YEARS that the Adams County SPCA is empty let alone at Christmas time, it is a true miracle!
The staff worked very hard taking care of the animals and making sure they were adopted to the right home. This year the Adams County SPCA has placed 598 pets in new homes and reunited 125 strays with their owners. Yes, it has been a busy year, but look at the results.
And for this dedicated staff and all the fantastic volunteers, the giving back didn’t stop with emptying the shelter. Now they have been pulling pets from other shelters in Pennsylvania – hoping they can relieve some of the stress and help to find more perfect homes for these perfect pooches.
Many thanks to these incredible heroes.
