17 Chihuahuas discovered in storage unit including puppies whose eyes had yet to open

Admin

In Morristown, Tennessee, 17 Chihuahuas were discovered in a Hamblen County storage unit in December. The dogs are all reported to be doing well. The dogs remain in foster while legal proceedings continue in order to finalize ownership. They still aren’t available for adoption, and interested adopters are encouraged to follow the Morristown-Hamblen Humane Society’s Facebook page for updates.

It had been on December 10, when Hamblen County Animal Control officers responded to a call about dogs. After checking out the situation, authorities contacted the Morristown-Hamblen Humane Society for assistance. Fortunately, area residents and volunteers were able to take the dogs and puppies into foster care after a plea went out of social media asking for help.

Please help! Yesterday police found 17 chihuahuas being kept in a storage unit in Hamblen County. All of these dogs are now under our care and all 17 need vet evaluations. Some are so young their eyes aren’t even open yet. Anyone who owns even one dog can imagine the cost of this. Please find it in your heart to donate to help with their care. We are also in need of donations of items such as puppy pads, Purina dog chow small bites and blankets. These dogs are also in serious need of socialization so enrichment type toys would be great for small dogs (smaller kongs, treat puzzles, treat balls etc). An absolutely amazing foster has stepped up to help with these dogs but we will provide everything needed.
