The veterinary team diagnosed Dillon with Caval Syndrome, a grave complication in the final stages of heartworm disease. “Dillon has been diagnosed with Caval Syndrome which means she’s in the final stages of heartworm disease,” Becca further explained, the words heavy with despair. Due to this severe condition, Dillon was coping with a multitude of debilitating symptoms, including severe respiratory problems, pervasive weakness, and the slow, agonizing failure of her vital organs. At that dire point, all her caregivers could do was manage her symptoms, striving to keep her comfortable. “All we can do is manage her symptoms and help her pass when it becomes too much for her body to bear. Vet doesn’t think it’s time yet, so we’re gonna make sure she continues to know how loved she is,” the rescue stated, their commitment unwavering despite the grim prognosis. Heartbroken by the news but determined to give Dillon peace, Becca made it her mission to find Dillon a decent foster home where she could spend the remainder of her days, surrounded by love and comfort.
