A Heartbreaking Reality: Neglect and Abandonment
Carly would have given anything in the world to experience the joy of living in a loving home.
Unfortunately, this sweet puppy and her parents were forced to endure a miserable existence with a careless and neglectful owner.
Due to the lack of proper care, the dog family developed painful and debilitating skin issues.
Instead of seeking veterinary treatment for their beloved pets, their heartless owner made the cruel decision to surrender them to BARC Animal Shelter & Adoptions, an animal shelter in Texas, and requested that they be euthanized.
The dog family was deeply heartbroken when they were separated and placed in different shelter kennels.
Carly gazed through the kennel bars, desperately hoping to catch a glimpse of her parents. She longed to run to them and embrace them once more.
A Volunteer’s Compassion: A Beacon of Hope
Madeline is a kind-hearted foster parent and dedicated shelter volunteer who passionately advocates for dogs on the euthanasia list.
As soon as she learned about the devastating situation of Carly and her parents, she immediately rushed to the shelter to visit them.
Carly appeared lost and utterly confused in her kennel, feeling the absence of her parents. She looked at Madeline with tearful eyes, as if pleading for her to help her and her family.
The compassionate volunteer could deeply sense how much the puppy missed her mother.
Madeline also visited Carly’s mother, Chicha, and her father, Chicho. They were confined in separate kennels, but their mournful brown eyes reflected the same profound sorrow and helplessness.
The kind-hearted woman was incredibly touched by Chicho’s sweet and affectionate personality. As soon as the dog saw Madeline, he eagerly sought cuddles and attention.
The mother dog, Chicha, showed the visible signs of severe neglect. She was heavily infested with mange and had significant patches of missing fur. Her skin was inflamed, sore, and crusty.
The compassionate woman knew that Chicha was deeply worried and anxious about her puppy, Carly, and she promised the mother dog that she would bring her to see her baby.
As soon as Madeline brought Chicha to the section of the shelter where Carly was staying, the mama dog instinctively knew where her daughter was and rushed to the front of her kennel.
A Touching Reunion: Mother and Daughter Reunited
The mother and daughter dogs affectionately sniffed and kissed each other through the cold kennel bars.
Carly visibly breathed a sigh of relief to see that her mom was alive and relatively well. She reached her paw out towards her mother, even though she knew she couldn’t physically reach her.
A Rescue Mission: Fighting for Their Lives
Madeline shared a poignant video of Carly, Chicha, and Chicho on various social media platforms, hoping to find a rescue organization that would step in to save them from imminent euthanasia.
Fortunately, her dedicated efforts paid off. SNARR Animal Rescue Northeast, a New York-based rescue organization, pledged to save the entire dog family.
This dedicated rescue group specializes in rescuing dogs who face significant challenges in finding homes, including those with pre-existing health conditions, those who are paralyzed, deaf, blind, or those who are at high risk of euthanasia.
Shortly afterward, compassionate foster families opened their hearts and homes to help, taking Chicha, Chicho, and Carly in.
The canine family is currently adjusting to life in a loving and caring home environment. In a few months, they will be transported to New York, where they will begin their search for permanent, loving forever homes.
