The Joy of Kindness: Treating Animals with Compassion
Nothing warms my heart more than seeing a pup being treated with the love and respect they truly deserve.
Unfortunately, the world isn’t always kind to animals. There are far too many instances of neglect and abuse, and I can’t even begin to discuss them without feeling deeply saddened.
All these animals ask of us is to love and play with them, but sometimes, we fail to fulfill even that simple request.
So, you can imagine how happy it makes me when I come across a story where a loving animal, whether they are a stray or coming from a previous home, is finally treated with the care and dignity they deserve.
A Rescue Mission: Helping an Abandoned Pup
When Hope For Paws, a nonprofit 501c3 organization dedicated to rescuing animals in the Los Angeles area and beyond, received a text message about an abandoned and exhausted Pit Bull, two dedicated staff members immediately dropped everything they were doing, gathered their rescue gear, and headed to the location.
While en route, they remembered that they needed to make a quick but crucial stop that would make this rescue mission much easier – they had to pick up some delicious food, not for themselves, of course, but for the pup!
After acquiring a tasty burger, the duo finally arrived at the Los Angeles neighborhood where this sweet girl was located.
Upon meeting the pup, the rescuers were pleasantly surprised to discover that she was actually being cared for by someone. The owners of the garden where she was staying had provided her with warm blankets, as well as water and food.
Nevertheless, to further show her that they were there to help and offer kindness, the rescuers took out the burger and offered it to the pup. She immediately perked up and took a big bite.
While she enjoyed her burger, one of the rescuers went back to their car and retrieved a kennel so that they could safely transport the pup, now named Grace, back to the Los Angeles shelter.
A Path to Recovery: Healing and Care
The second they arrived at the shelter, they prepared Grace a nice, warm bubble bath to get her clean and comfortable.
However, they noticed that the skin on her face had been biopsied, so after her bath, they took her to the veterinarian for further examination and tests. Everyone at the shelter breathed a sigh of relief when the tests revealed that this was not a sign of cancer.
The veterinarians also had to extract some broken teeth, but otherwise, Grace was found to be in good health.
Being so happy and healthy, Grace was more than ready to find a new forever home where she could finally settle down and receive the love she deserved.
Luckily, the kind people at It’s The Pits, a 501c3 canine rescue that coordinates the fostering and adoption of pups, reached out and offered to foster this sweet girl.
A Hopeful Future: Finding a Forever Family
I am confident that when the time is right, this brave and resilient pup will find the perfect family who will love and cherish her unconditionally, just as she deserves.
