Who doesn’t love a puppy, but this shelter baby will grow up to be big dog

Admin

Big dogs are the least likely to be adopted from the overcrowded shelters from coast to coast in the United States. Sure, they are adorable when they are tiny puppies, but big breed puppies grow up to be big breed dogs, and so will adorable Lola.

Lola arrived at the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter on January 23. She is described as a female, white and brown Great Pyrenees mix, and she is guaranteed to grow up to be a big dog. It’s no secret that big dogs need more space, but remember these dogs are just as loving and rewarding as the little dogs at the shelter.

Be aware that adopting a big dog will require the following:

  1. They will cost more to feed than a small dog.
  2. They will need more space and more exercise. Without exercise, dogs (especially puppies) can become destructive and develop separation anxiety, but walks with them will also provide you with more outdoor time, more exercise and no kidding – a lot more fun than just lying on the couch watching television.
  3. Big dogs also need training. Obviously, you can’t just pick them up, and it’s important to teach them bathroom manners outdoors, sit, stay and other basic commands. And remember, just taking them to classes presents you, their devoted human, a chance to meet more like-minded people and make new friends.
