It promises to be a happy ending for a dog found in mid-December who had been abandoned in the rain and the cold and tied to a pole in Trafton Park, Massachusetts “whimpering and searching for help.” A Good Samaritan found the two-year-old Mastiff with a massive 13-pound tumor on her belly and brought her to the Malden Police Department for help.
According to the Animal League of Boston, the dog, now named Big Momma, was taken to the Blue Pearl Vet Hospital where the tumor was removed and fortunately confirmed benign. Her surgical costs have exceeded $5,000 and half of it was raised through donations.
And then it was time for Big Momma to begin her recovery, and it was Big Daddy Doggie Daycare who stepped in to help. Now she relaxes on her back and seems as though life has always been perfect. Big Momma is available for adoption.
An investigation has been launched with Malden police to investigate the possible animal cruelty case.
ARL understands that an animal with a medical condition may be a frightening or costly situation, however, the organization reminds the public that abandoning an animal is never an option…
