In Birmingham, Alabama, a family is seeking answers after they said an Amazon driver shot their dog during a delivery.
According to Channel6News, it had been Sunday evening at the home of Rose Kirk when she saw an Amazon truck parked at the family’s home. Their two dogs, Solar and Lunar, had been lying in the chairs on the porch; that is until they saw the stranger walking up to the front door of their home.
Moments later, Rose heard a gunshot and heard her dog cry out in pain, and when she hurried outside, saw that Solar had been shot.
Local police arrived to investigate, and the Amazon driver said he fired his gun in self defense, however Kirk disagrees. She said the driver saw the dogs and continued to approach the front door.
if you notice dogs, why are you steadily walking towards the dog if they’re a threat to you? If i don’t know a dog, I’m not going to go near it.

And to top it all off, Rose doesn’t know why the Amazon driver stopped at her home, since she never ordered anything and wasn’t expecting any deliveries. Her dog was also leashed and chained.
As for their beloved dog, Solar will be needing surgery. The bullet entered his shoulder and exited through his chest. He will be needing surgery and the costs to repair the damage will cost thousands of dollars. Both dogs are very bonded to each other; the dogs were both rescued from the Birmingham Humane Society in 2017. Solar is still alive, but has an uphill battle to recover.
No charges have been filed against the Amazon driver, however a spokesperson from Amazon stated it is against company policy for drivers to carry weapons. That driver is no longer working for the company.
