Lucy Ballerina has called the Humane Society of El Paso her home for 753 days. She had been the longest resident by more than six months. Although there had been some interested adopters during the last two years, it never seemed quite the perfect match; that is according to the shelter.
After two months in a foster home and nothing but good feedback, we can confidently say Lucy is not the dog she was in the shelter, and she is ready for a forever home.
Lucy is a special needs pup; the four-year-old Dalmatian mix arrived at the shelter on January 2022. She’s most likely been deaf since birth and has been loved by the staff and volunteers since the day she walked in. She loves to play and enjoys playing hours of fetch before taking a relaxing lounge in the pool.
Lucy is quite nervous around strangers, and even though she is deaf, her disability doesn’t seem to affect her; she is very intelligent and has made progress learning cues and hand signals.
Now Lucy has a special connection with her foster mom.
i’m truly blessed to have learned so much from Lucy ballerina. She has shown my family and even friends so much love. She is just a joy to have around.

And so it was time for Lucy to find her own family. It had already been determined she would do best with older children and as the only dog.
Lucy is not a morning person and enjoys sleeping in late. She would do best in a home with older children, no other dogs, and men – this girl loves men! Lucy Ballerina is deaf, but she does not let that affect her.
And finally last week, Lucy Ballerina got her wish! She’s been adopted. She is absolutely loving her life, and we all wish this incredible pup a long and healthy life.
