Sweet shelter pup’s paw pads worn down from stress at overcrowded and noisy kennel life

Admin

Some dogs seem to be emotionally and physically resilient at shelters, while other dogs have a hard time coping with the endless barking, the clanging of metal bowls, the strangers walking by and nothing to do for 23 hours a day except sleep, wait and watch.

Meet Frito, #55031436. This sweet boy at Fort Worth Animal Care and Control in Texas is friendly and very sweet; the trouble is he is so stressed from kennel boredom, he constantly paces. It hurts the staff and volunteers’ hearts to see Frito has worn his paw pads raw.

BUT…. once Frito is outside of his kennel, he is happy as can be. He just needs a soft place to rest, feel secure and heal his sore paws. Unfortunately, because of the overcrowding at the shelter, dogs who are having a hard time at the shelter, are often placed on the euthanasia list. Hopefully, we can help Frito safely exit the shelter.

Please share this sweet dog’s plight with approved rescue organizations, friends, family and social media contacts. Sharing saves lives.
