Bag of abandoned newborn puppies find hope in Belton foster homes

Admin

Eight tiny balls of fur, shivering and whimpering, were discovered on Wednesday in a shocking display of cruelty at Belton Park, Texas. These helpless puppies, barely clinging to life, were callously discarded in a plastic bag, left to face the unknown alone. But thanks to the kindness of a passerby and the dedication of animal welfare professionals, their story has taken a heartwarming turn.

According to the Belton Police Department Facebook page, the puppies were found by a dog walker who stumbled upon the heart-wrenching sight. The bag, damp and cold, held eight precious lives; their tiny bodies with their umbilical cords still attached, had instinctively huddled together for warmth. They had been left in 40-degree weather in a puddle of water at the bottom of a dumpster. One, sadly, had already succumbed to the harsh conditions. The remaining seven, malnourished and weak, were immediately rushed to the Belton Animal Shelter.

At the shelter, the puppies received the care they desperately needed. They were provided with warmth, nutritious food and the gentle touch of caring hands. Despite their ordeal, their spirits remained resilient; their playful puppy eyes shining with hope.

Now, these little survivors have found a safe haven in loving foster homes. With proper care and nurturing, they will blossom into healthy, happy pups, ready to find their forever families.

We are working to make sure that eventually these pups run with the big dogs.

Last night we received a call about what sounded like an abandoned litter of kittens in a Heritage Park trash bin. Instead of kittens, officers found eight puppies, which they brought back to the PD and cleaned, dried, warmed, and fed.

Seven of the eight survived and are in foster care until they can be adopted. We are grateful for the actions of a concerned resident and the response of kind officers.
