Labrador retriever saved from drowning in canal

Admin

On Friday morning, a plea went out for help. A Labrador retriever had fallen into the canal in McAllen, Texas. His head was bobbing up and down; he seemed exhausted and it was feared he would drown if help didn’t get to him quickly.

Fortunately, area residents were able to contact animal control officers who hurried to the canal to rescue the dog.

“The plea for help was out after a dog had fallen into the canal! A huge shout out for the amazing animal control officers! The dog was immediately taken to the shelter, the shelter did a rescue to rescue transfer so this dog could be medically examined. He was coughing and seemed a little disoriented! He is at the vet under observation, he will be getting X-rays, bloodwork and heartworm text,” posted Dallas Dog – Rescue.Rehab.Reform on their social media page.

The non-profit rescue organization has named the dog Cisco, and he will be on hold hoping his owners reach out for him. The last message from the group indicates they do have the name of the possible owner and will update shortly.

Many thanks to everyone who called out for help and facilitated with this dog’s rescue. Be the voice for those who cannot speak.
