Dog breeder performing C-sections on dogs sentenced to probation

In Crown Point, Indiana, a dog breeder found to be performing Cesarean-sections on dogs pleaded guilty this week and was sentenced to three years of probation.

According to the NWITimes, Stevce Rajcinoski, 39, was also accused of breeding dogs without a license, failing to seek veterinary care for dogs that had been suffering from respiratory infections and endangering other dogs exposed to sick dogs.

In 2017, police seized 68 mistreated dogs living in a poorly ventilated garage. Authorities also seized three goats, a miniature horse, peacocks and chickens. Medicine and medical equipment discovered in the garage led police to suspect Rajcinoski had been performing C-sections on French bulldogs that are known to have trouble delivering their puppies. He was originally charged with 11 felony counts of torturing or mutilating a vertebrate animal. In addition he was charged with 72 misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty as well as one misdemeanor count failing to register as a commercial dog breeder.

A few of the dogs required medical care, and the rest were taken to the Lake County Sheriff’s Animal Adoption and Control Center in Crown Point,

On Tuesday, Rajcinoski pleaded guilty to one count of felony mutilation and misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty according to a plea agreement. He admitted to endangering the lives of the dogs, failing to seek medical attention for them, separating the ill dogs from the healthy dogs and failing to seek a breeder’s license.

The judge sentenced him to one year in jail on each count which was suspended in lieu of probation as long as Rajcinoski does not violate any of the conditions. He is not allowed to have more than two dogs as pets and to obtain veterinary care if the pets get sick.
