As a Category 4 hurricane approaches, volunteers and staff at the Humane Society of Louisiana are making last minute preparations by renting vans and mobilizing national adoption partners to get animals out of town ahead of the storm.
Winds topping 150 mph are just hours away from striking the Gulf Coast.
According to the organization, just a few of the hundreds of homeless animals from rural shelters and those in the path of the storm have been relocated.
Funds are desperately needed for transportation, van rentals, veterinarian bills, fuel emergency supplies and more. Relief efforts will continue after the storm’s impact. Once the storm has passed, there will be notifications highlighting the needs of the animals.
Be safe and please don’t forget to take care of your animal friends in harm’s way.
